Giving Thanks!

In this world of hustle bustle, gotta go, gotta go, it is often easy to forget the good things in our lives. Out in the open air a fella s thoughts jest naturally turn to all that he can see. And what he sees around him is the wholeness of Mamma Nature. If you were in a hurry a moment ago, you somehow know that it all really doesn t matter. What matters is who you are and jest where in the scheme of things are you sitting.

I am so thankful for the world that I live in. Good cattle, horses and some of the best grazing land in the country can make any Cowboy about as happy as a new born calf in springtime. I have a great family. Even got a couple of grandkids! When they come into a room the whole place lights up as though the sun had just come to visit.

I ve been able to fulfill a dream through Drovers Mercantile. A little old town on the prairie had all but forgotten its old west heritage until Drovers Mercantile opened its doors. Now people are traveling from all over the country and even a few from other lands just to experience Ellsworth, Kansas.

Kassi has been a very big part of that dream. She has endured the unpredictable as the rock who allowed The Cowboy to be who he is. I am a scribe of the old world. My writings take me and I hope our readers to places they could never have known if it weren t for a newspaper we call the Kansas Cowboy.

I am so thankful for all the Yahoos who support the C.O.W.B.O.Y. Society and all of my friends who actually claim they know this far from ordinary character known as The Cowboy. My life is filled with wealth and abundance that few have ever known. The air I breathe refreshes my soul.

Thanksgiving comes but once a year, but giving thanks never ends.
So Long,
The Cowboy
